LEITHFIELD SCHOOL PICNIC. Last Wednesday, children, P»« a *»; "f friend* travelled by motor-car to Kaiapci, where Iho annual school picnio w» held in tho Domain. Messrs J. Rhodes, J. W. Ssr ich, W. Jamieson, T. James, H. Ma), J. Wright, and others placed their cars at the disposal o£ the School Committee, and (he journey to and from the picmo resort was covered in good time. The day was an ideal one. Fruit, ice-cream, and luncheon were proviaed by the committee By the courtesv of the manager of the Kaiapoi Wool en Mills tho children were conducted ever the mills in the morning and were shown the various processes by which the raw material is converted into tho manufactured article. During • tho afternoon the manager of the freez : ng works conducted a party through the buildings, explaining carefully the various operations necessary to produce the carcases ready for the London market. OURUHIA. The annual picnic of the Ouruhia school took place on Anniversary Day at Stewart's Gully. The weather waß very good, and the very largo crowd' of pupils, parents, and friends had a most enjoyable day. The morning -was devoted to free games, cricket, croquet, etc., while in the afternoon a sports programme was gone through.
