GRASSHOPPERS.

HOLD UP A TRAIN. (raoH orrg oww coaßisjoitMSirr.} SYDNEY, December 4. From Bathurst comes the news that millions of. grasshoppers have descended upon tho countryside. In some cases they have totally destroyed oat crops, and in other paddocks they have left trails of half-eaten wheat stalks. They even held up a heavily-laden goods train. The train was on its way to Bathurst, when a stoppage occurred. A puzzled train crew, on looking ahead, was amazed to find that an army of grasshoppers bad effectually held up the train's progress. The engine could not take a slight grado on account of the greasy state of the rails, which were covered with the grasshoppers for several hundreds of yards. The Bathurst farmers are not a little concerned as to how to deal with the'lnvasion.
