COMMENDATION.
M'LEAN INSTITUTE STAFF.
The members of the Board of Governors or the McLean Institute, at the ineetins; of that body yesterday, commended the services of iho staff employed at the homes. There were present: The. Mayor ('Mr J. K. Archer) in the chair, Mrs Wilson, Rev. X. L. D. Webster, Uev. W . A. Hay, Bishop Brodie, Mr H. V. Widdowson. Mr H .J*. Otlev, and Mr G. A. l r . Tapper. ' 31r Tapper said the Board was fortunate in having an excellent band of helpers from the matrons down. '*! hoes." he said, "that when we have wiped off that wretched debt of five years ago, which amounted to £lo.ooo, we can increase the matrons' salaries. I hope the debt -will be cleared l>y February. They must show a great deal of love and kindness to the old ladies and I should like to see some ommendation of their servc'es. Mr H. Y. Widdowson moved that the Question be deferred until the end of the financial year in May. Mr Tapper seconded the motion, which was carried.
