BURWOOD PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.
♦ The monthly meeting of the Burwood Progressive Association was held on Thursday evening. The Waim.iiri County Council advised that tho culvert in Queen street had received attention. The Drainage Board notified that the floodgate at Locksley avenue had been repaired, and would be kept under observation in future. Messrs J. Wilson and R. K. Todhunter, delegates to the United Burgesses' Association, reported at length on tramway matters, and after a full discussion the delegates were accorded a vote of thanks for their comprehensive report and the United Burgesses' Association for its good work on behalf of the public. The secretary reported that the total membershiD of the Association was 56. It was resolved to write to the Tramway Board asking that a fifteen-minute service be run to the city, and to suggest that the Shirley bus service be extended to the corner of Marshland and Jiew Brighton roads, to run between the present Burwood tram timetable. The secretary was instructed to write the Waimairi County Council asking that some posts I>e put up on all streets, and also that the name of River road, beween Dallington bridge and Gayhurst road, be changed to Dallington avenue. Several members referred to the bad state of North Parade road, and it was decided to refer the matter to the City Council.
