The death is announced of A. N. Hornby, an old time cricketer, aged 78. He captained Lancashire for nearly 20 seasons. [A. N. Hornby was a member of Lord Harri's J s ' team which visited Australia in 1878-79 He played for England against Australia on the Oval in 1882, and at Manchester in 1884. In ;881 ho made 1531 runs for-the season, his average being 41.14. Hornby was ulso an English Rugby international.]
