Wells is well-known to the kcal pubiic, having been racing for a number of years. He is a, New Zcalander, but has been out of the Dominion for several vears. He has competed with success in Australia, and or. the Continent. He has competed against the world** best, including Willie Spencer", Harris Horder, Jack Fitzgerald, and other well-known riders. Sowden is a. younger rider who rode against M. '.Vitjigoilld last Saturday, when he defeated him in a match race over three distances. He is u dashing rider and in confident of being able to defeat his older and mom experienced rival. Added interest to this race is given owing to the fact that the winner will probably be invited to co-npete against J. Fitzgerald, oho of the noted speed kings of Australia. There is a splendid l programme of firslclass cycling even*o, in which all the cracks will compete. A cash run of 135 yards haa attracted the-creanr ot New Zealand sprinters T!io whippets will again be seen in action ir. a hundred yards race, and a hurdle race.
