. 4 ,_ WAIMAIRI. A meeting of the Wajmairi County Council was held last night. Present: C'rs. J. Seymour (chairman), 11. \\~. Hawkc, W. J. Walter, W. V. Spencer, C. E. Cross, 11. raterson, T. O. Xew-nham. and Ci. Shipley. The Works Committee recommended that various improvements and repairs should he carried out in Marshland road, Francis street. Queen street,- Helmore's lane, Hcathfield avenue, and Main Xorth highway. Ji was reported that the Main No»th highway had been graded from the City boundary to Km-, pirn bridge, and Marshland road from Chaney's to Turner's r<v"l. The electrical engineer reported ihat the new sub-station at Belfast had been completed, and the 120 k.w. transformer had be<».n installed. Tlio engineer asked the Electricity Committee to consider tho erection of a closeriin substation at the corner of Garden road and Wairarapa- terrace. Ho intended to install a 120 k.w. transformer at that place. The total cost of the substation would bo £290. During the month 21 addit'onai consumers had been connected up. After some discussion it was decided to Tclease the Hospital Boird of payment for the upkeep of eight street lights along Bottle Lake road from tho end of the present quarter. It was decided to give twenty guineas towards the Massey Memorial Fund. The Fendalton School requested that the Council should mow tho grass in the school grounds free of charge. It was decided to accede to the request. •
