RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.
Weather conditions were favourable on Saturday morning for training cperations, and a fair amount of interesting work was got through, mostly by horses engaged at the South Canterbury Meeting this week. All the work before breakfast was done on the plough. Carnot was one of the early worker* and went a round on tin plough, showing speed over the last half-mile. Serotina, assisted by Scotch Wet over the last part, covered four furlongs in 50 2-ss, and Countermove went five furlongs in lm 4 1-ob. Retrospect ran six furlongs in lm 21s, while Jubilant covered the tuno journey in lm 16 3-ss. Rivalry put up a good performance by doing it in lm 15 4-5«. Caicite, Fresco, and Limerick galloped half a mi'e in 525, finishing together. Fresh Breeze ran three furlongs in 38 2-ss, and ■Centrepiece and Royal Head went five furlongs in lm 1 l-ss. After breakfast the' plough track was in improved conditicn, and Lytup /went four furlongs in 535, Martis taking 52 2-5s for the same journey. Orchid ran five furlongs at three-quarter pace, Winkle took lm 7s, and Windshield In. 4 2-5s for the same journey, while His Majesty and Clareina took lm 17s, and Grey Lass and Kilbirnie lm 19s, and Sparklight lm 17s to cover six furlongs. FoctfaM gave a pleasing cVeplay while running nine furlongs in lm 57 4-ss, while Ferino also went well over five furlongs in lm 3 4-ss. Equerry and the Crown Imperial 11. gelding ran five furlongs in lm 5 l-ss. Zara«oza covered five furlongs in lm 3 4-ss, and Celerity and Kuia from a standing-etart went haK a mile in 51 3-ss—a good gK'Uop. Goldetep beat Starmist crer seven furlongs in the good time <>f lm 31b, and Op'.ir was better than Gay Life en a six. furlongs sprint, which occupied lm 18 4-ss. Chickwheat with a light-weight up, was better than Sartist after running seven furlongs in lm, 30 8-ss, while on the No. 7 giaea track, Assurance, assisted by Kilbox over the last part, went six furlongs in lm It 4-ss. Gold town Tan half a mile in 50 3-ss, Winkle's Best, assisted by Prosperity, nine furkags in lm 58 2-ss, Giantkiller seven furlongs on the grass in lm 30s, and Miss Minerva went six furlongs on the plough in the good time of lm 14 3-ss. Sun TJp ran five furlongs on the plough in lm 1 3-se, and Royal Despatch and Gay Queen went a furlong further in lm 16a. Rebuke ran half a mi/o on'the p'ough in 50 3-ss, Silver. Cbrd, assisted by Horatius, six furlongs en lm 18 3-ss, and Glenalmond six furlongs in lm 17s. _ Rigel galloped' the. last six of seven furlongs on the grass in lm 17 2-ss, and Projector beat Royal Spear over five furlongs in lm 4s.' Master Hand (G. Salt) and Malaga (A. G. Peart) were sent ever a couple of hurdles together, jumping well.
