At a dinner at the Savoy Hotel, given by all parties in the House of Commons in honour of Mr Chamberlain's Locarno achievement, Mr T. PO'Connor,. M.P.. the "Father" of the House of Commons, who was presiding, said he would ask tho gathering to toast the King in silence and send their deep sympathy to his Majesty in the dark hour of his bereavement, for, although he was the Sovereign of a great Empire, they could only regard him as a child sitting at the bedside of the mother whom he loved. The toast was given in silence and with empty glasses. • U.S. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE. i (aUSTRAUAN AXD X.Z. -CABLI ASSOCIATION.) (Received November f>2nd, 5.5 m.) WASHINGTON, November 21. President Coolidgc cabled King George an expression of sympathy on the death of the Queen Mother. "The sad intelligence of the death of her Majesty Queen Alexandra, your mother," the message states/ '"'impressed Mrs Coolidge and me with profound sorrow. Wo, desire to extend to your Majesty our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy."
