*_ Mr S. Strachan, editor of the "Westport News." is a visitor to Christchurch on his way to Duncdin. Messrs J. I. Sma.il and P. G. Keig left on Saturday for Wellington, where they will represent the Canterbury Electrical Contractors at the Conference of Electrical Traders of New Zealand. Recent arrivals at the United Service "Hotel includo Messrs H. D. Robertson ( Auckland). .T. F. Findlay (Wellington), M.'A. Phflfps. J. G. L. Roberts (London), W. A. Cox (Sydney), A. K. Jackson (Auckland). Guests at the Clarendon Hotel include Messrs C. IL. Cntchley (Waipawa), L. Wright (Makotuku), W. ERobertson (Pongaroa), B. M. Neil (Dunedin), M. B. F>ggeldon (Auckland), and A. Hole (Wellington). Mr Carlton Chase, who is appearing to-night at Fullers' Opera House, has had the unique experience of reading his own obituary notice. It was reported in 1919 that Mr Chase had died in South Africa, whereas he was very much alive in Ch'cago. Among the guests at Warners' Hotel arc Messrs W. G. Havbittle (Feilding), J. J. Corry (Blenheim), A. fcorry (Wellington), J. Windus (Wellington), B. .T. Large (London), P. W. Harrold, C. N. Collins, A. G. Snrimpton (Nelson), R. H. Potter (Auckland), G. S.
