; CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. ;? 4.. A meeting of the committee of the Methven Caledonian Society was held in the A. and I*. Association room on Friday evening, Mr C. J. Crooks. presided i.nd there were also present Messrs Jas. Manger, W. Bennett, I£. Aitkcn, K". Mcintosh, E.. A. Mangin, H. Reid, Jas. Cook, H. Cranfield, L. Dalton, S. Cranfield, and W. J." Owen (hon. eecretary). The following were elected, members of the Society: Messrs A. C. Rood, R. Gemmell, A. Shaw, A. .W, Lorrimer, and "W. Lorrimer. Mr "W. A. Haden wrote resigning the position of treasurer and assistant-secretary, owing to pressure of other work. The resignation was accepted ; with regret. The X.Z. Athletic and Cycling Union forwarded certificate of affiliation and returned the programme duly approved fey the Centre. The Canterbury Centre, N.Z. Amateur Athletic Association, wrote stating that the Centre, would grant a permit to hold the amateur events -under. the usual conditions, and asking for a list of the officials appointed to control the events. The secretary of the Canterbury Piping and Dancing Association .wrote notifying that the. Society* application for affiliation was granted. The Association also acknowledged receipt of the Society s donation of a gold medal for the forthcoming competitions. It advised that programme of piping and dancing event* for the Society's annual gathering on January 9th next was approved, and suggested .some minor alterations. These suggestions were discussed and accepted. The question of grading the cycle track on the racecourse w»» discussed. The secreUrv reported that alight available at any time.
