ARGENTINE EMBARGO REMOVED (rfiXSS ASSOCIATION TK.KOKAM.) WELLINGTON. November 20. During the past few mouths fruitgrowers in New Zealand have been rather concerned owing to ibo action of the Argentine Government in placing an embargo oti tho entry of -New Zealand fruit into that market. Tho reason given for this embargo was, according to information received, owing to the presence.oi' Mediterranean fruit fly. This, however, was only temporary, and the ctn ba rgo was re i m posed. The New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board have been making strong representations on the matter, and authority was recently cabled to Messrs .'f. J. Hore and Company, _o£ Monte Video, to approach the Argentine Government direct. A reply has now been received from Hare and Company advising that they have been successful in having tho embargo removed. The Argentine market can absorb approximately 40.000 cases of New Zealand apples in the season, and owing to the fact that it takes tho size of npole which is unsuitable for the English market, it is a very valuable ono to the Dominion. Prices secured last season for apple shipments to thsjt couutrv were equal to between 12s and 17s per case, f.o.b. New Zealand ports, according to variety, the wellknown variety of Delicious securing a premium over all other varieties of approximately 3s per ease.
