Two of the accused found guilty of the murder of Abdul Bawla, a wealthy member of the Bombay Corporation, were executed at Bombay. The third accused, who was sentenced to death, is mentally deranged, and will be confined to an asylum. LXine officers of the police and Stale troops of Indore, also the adjutant-gen-era], were charged with attempting -to kidnap Munitaz Begum, and with murdering Ba - <rla, her protector. Mumtaz is 22 years of age, and was brought up as a singing girl. She went to lndore at the request of the Maharajah, and later • accompanied him to England. She left the Maharajah and lived in various places, where she was constantly followed by his spies, who urged her to return. Mumtaz stated that various attempts had been made to kidnap her. Three of those accused were sentenced to death, and others to varying terms of imprisonment.]
