SPRINGSTON GUN CLUB.
. ♦ The annual "Ladi-.V Day Shoot" of (be 'Springston Gun Club was" held on Labour Day at Mr C. X: Powell's paddock, Springston South. The shooting was not'of a liijrliclass order, but was considcer] fair, as the light was very bad. The shoot was one of fifteen birds, ,cach competitor to shoot off handicap distances, and each shooter to be nominated by a lady. The winner proved to be Mr H. H. kimbcr, who shot 14 birds. Mr J. Simpson and Mr D. McGregor tied for second place with 13 birds, and the former won in the. first rours-1 of the shcot-off, D. McGregor taking third prize. Five tied for fourth place, P. Ryan, X. Powell, T. Kimbcr, C. Chapman, and P. Kimber. 1\ lumber. Chapman, and P. Kimbcr missed their birds in the first rcund of the shoot off, and I). J, Cooke (president of the club] handed the prizes to the winners, and reau an apology from Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, who ■was unable to be present.- At the call of the president cheers were given for Sir R j Healon Rhodes, who had given the firstprize. A six-bird sweep followed, and was won by VT. Bennett, who ehot all his. birds. The second money was won by 11. Hatchard. The secretarial arrangements were ably carried out by Mir T. J. Kimber, and the dnties of handicappers and referees were undertaken by Messrs J. F. Hill and J. T.Moore. Sir G. Lassen operated the scoreboard.
