_© THAT WAGES CUT STORY. MR HOLLAND UNCONVINCED. (press association telegram.) REEFTON, October 28. The Leader of the Labour Party, Mi H. E. Holland, has replied by way of a newspaper interview tp the statement of the Minister for Labour, the Hon. Mr Anderson, that he did not approve of » reference in the report of the kSeeretary for Labour to a scheme for providing an endowment for children by deducting 7s Cd per week from the wages of workers * Mr Holland said that every member of Parliament was fully aware that Departmental reports were submitted to the Minister for approval before. presentation to the House, and that no Minister would permit a proposal for legislation to be included iii such a report, unless he (the Minister) approved of it.. Furthermore, Mr Holland challenged Mr Anderson to say that as -Minister for Labour he was not in favour of the suggestion to reduce wages by 7s (id per week to provide family allowances as outlined in the* Labour Department's report. Mr Holland referred also to the Prime Minister's i*j>orted statement in favour of quinquennial Parliaments. Ho declared that the Labour Party would oppose such a proposal very strongly. His Party stood unswervingly for triennial Parliaments.
