Chapman, Railway District Traffic Manager, Christchurch, left yesterday for Dunediti. Ho will bo away for some days. Mr Justice MacGregor, who haa been conducting the Supremo Court sittings in Christchurch, will leave for Wellington on Friday. Mr J. O'Brion, M.i?., Labour candidate for Westland, is suffering from the effects of a severe chill, and has been ordered complete .rest for a few days by his medical advisct. Among the guests at the United Setvico Hotel aro Messrs A. C. Hammond and E. C. Booth (Wellington), H. J. J)elargy (Knrow), S. W. Batty (Sydney), W. Myles (Dunedin), and V. E. Eeardon (Rotherham). Mr Charles Hall, headmaster of the Akaioa District High School, whose resignation was received and accepted at the last meeting of the Education Board, wOl retire on superannuation, at the end of February, when he will have completed 42 years of service. Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., who sat at Rangiora yesterday for the last time prior to his departure for Hamilton, was wished every success in his new sphere by Messrs H. K. Kippenberger, E. D. E. Smith, H. K. Archer (Bar), G. I. Jennings (Justices), W. A. liowse (Press), and (Sergeant Cassidy (Police). Mr Wilson, in repJy, said he was sorry to leave, but he was going to a district which he knew and liked.
