The chairman gave a resume of the business transacted at the annual meeting. A'shburton members did not know what business was being transacted iu Chriatchurch. He was surprised to find that the Association had beautiful rooms for the convenience of members. The rules provided thaf; Ashburton or other branches may elect their own officers and chairman. Mr Page said he was confident that the Association had done good work. Mr F, M. Spellcrberg said there were 3000 motor vehicles iu the Ashburton district, and he considered the branch should have at least 1000 members. Mr K. P. V. Sealey said if they had 1000 members, Ashburton would be better on their own.
Mr Page explained that Ashburton's boundaries extended from Rangitata to Rakaia, and from the hills to the sea. H was decided to form a local branch, and tho following officers wore elected:—Chairman, Mr W. Page; vice-chairman, Mr K. P. V. Sealey; secretary. Mr J. Bathgate; hon. treasurer, Mr J.
