The newspaper "Soir" draw< atu-ti-tiou to a sensational revolt of officers in the Bclfort garrison. \Vhen volunteers wore called to form, a draft for Syria, 600 poilus volunteered, bnt not a singlo/oflicer responded, with the exception of Commanding Uhamonoux. Thereupon several officers were named, including Captains Hermann and Brau. Both refused to go to Syria, protcrrinu; to resign their commissions. Troops subsequently hooted Hermann, who is believed to be. influenced by the newspaper campaign against General Sarrnil, Syrian High Commissioner. The walls of Belfort have beou placarded with deunciations of nermann's conduct.
It is announced that the Government has ordered an enquiry into the Syr'au operations.
LOCAL RISING QUELLED. ATTACK ON PUBLIC BUILDINGS. (REBTE&'S TELEGSAVSS.) (Received October 7th, 7.30 p.m.) PARIS, October 6. Serious disturbances occurred in Hama. Syria. Tho inhabitants, aided by Bedouins, attacked tho public buildings and disarmed tho local police. A detachment of Syrian cavalry drovo back the rebels, and reinforcements rushed to the scene; thirty rebels wero shot. Order has beon re-established.
