Wiley, Commander of the Battleship Division of tho U.S. Navy, containing a highly appreciative message of thanks for the hospitality extended to his colleagues" and himself during the visit of tho American ships to New Zealand.. •"May I take*this opportunity," he writes, "of tharping you and, through you, the people of New Zealand on behalf of my officers and men, as well as on mv own personal account, for the really" extraordinary hospitality and expressions of friendliness which made our visit so very pleasant. Ouf appreciation of your kindness is so very real and enthusiastic that I take it you yourself noticed it just about every time you saw and heard us, and I assure you that the memory of it all is no less pleasant than was the occasion."
