'CELLO RECITAL.
MISS VERA MITCHELL. ' A recital which' is creating much interest amongst the music lovers of Christchureh is the violoncello recital of 17lh and 18th century music that Miss Vera Mitchell is giving at the Choral Hall to-night. The programme will include many beautiful old 'cello compositions that are very rarely heard in public. In additipn to. its novelty, the performance will be of highly artistic quality, as Miss-Mitchell will be assisted by Miss Milieent Jennings, dramatic mezzo-soprano; and Mrs J. H.*Jarman, harp, with Miss Eileen Bowbyes as piano accompanist. This will bo the last recital that Miss Mitchell will give before her return to London. Of her playing, the critics say. that siie is. a 'cellist with a beautifully-produced tone, fine musical/feeling, and perfect finish. Miss Millicent Jennings has sung sufficiently, often since her return, to New Zealand tfo place her reputation in an unassailable position. Her rich voice and charming personality tone made her a favourite both in opera and on the concert platform. Mrs Jarman, the giftecL harpist, has toured New Zealand professionally on several occasions. The box plan is-at The Bristol.
