PRISONERS SENTENCED.
(PSESS ASSOCIATIOM TELEGBAK.) AUCKLAND, September 16. In tho Supreme Court, Mr Justice AJpers sentenced Richard Dyer Downey to two year 3' imprisonment on each of throe charges of theft and one of false pretences, the sentences to be concurrent. Reginald Howan was given twelve months on each of two charges of theft and two of . forgery, the sentences to be concurrent. Tusrua. Riii, for carnal knowledge of a half-caste .Maori girl, was admitted to two years' probation, and ordered to maintain the child and pay the costs of the prosecution. Charles Royden Campbell, aged sixteen, for a "dis[rusting and loathsome" offence, was committed to the Borstal Institute for three \ears, to be removed elsewhere at the discretion ot the authorities. John Ormiston Wood, for false pretences, was admitted to twelve months' probation.
