Arne Borg (Sweden) swam 300 yards in Smin 16 2-ss, 300 metres in 3m 33 4-ssec, 400 metres in 4min 50 2-59 ec, and 440 yards in 4min 52 8-ssec., [The existing world's records were:—3oo yards, 3min IS 3-ssec; 300 motres, 3min 35 l-ssec; 400 metres, 4min 57sec; 440 yards, 4min 57sec, all held by Johnny Weiaamuller, U.S.A.]
