Charles Herbert "Withers, a wellknown plumber, of .Palmerston North, with his wife and two boys, aged cloven and seven years respectively, was motoring home at 9.30 this eveni g. after a visit to see tho 1' leet, when he failed to observe a sharp bend ill the road at the approach to tho bridge a llangiotu township across tho Oioua R The car crashed through tho protecting fence and fell 20 feet into deep miraculously reached the bank, but the others were trapped in the curtained vehicle and undoubtedly drowned. , , , Police and searchers have located the car, but as yet arc unable to bring it to the bank.
