NEW ISLAND RISES.
WEIRD VOLCANIC ACTION. FLAMES 300 FEET HIGH. (BY CABLE—rRESS COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received August 14th, 7.15 p.m.) ATHENS, August 13. A new island is rising out of the sea simultaneously with an eruption of the old volcano on the island of Santorin, which is throwing out flames three hundred feet high. [Santorin is one of the Cyclades, forming, with tho island of Therasia and the islet of Aspronesi an uninterrupted ring, tho crater of a volcano in the middle of which have arisen, through eruptions within historic tipies, the three Ivaimene islands, which have been enlarged by eruptions since 1866.]
