Those interested in the Christchurch tramway system "will have the opportunity of hearing the manager, Mr Frank Thompson, describe the system in the W.E.A. room, Trades Hall, to-night, at 8 o'clock. Chaplain Otho R. Euire, the only chaplain with the portion of the United States Navy at Lyttelton, will preach at the Oxford terrace Baptist Church to-morrow evening. The chorus choir will sing' "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and Miss Margery Nicol will sing n solo. To-morrow evening, at the Rugby street Methodist Church, the Rev. Leslie B. Nealo will take as his subject "The Abolition of War, the Next Step in Christian Civilisation." An invitation is extended to the sailors of the American "Navy to attend. An after-church rally and song service will be held. In the Durham street Methodist Church to-morrow Dr. Ranston, M.A., will concludo the mission services by preaching at 11 o'clock and 6.H0. Special songs and solos will be sung. The art exhibition by Miss Wilding at the Art Gallery will remain open by request The Rev. Oswald Burnet will be the preacher at Wesley Church, Fitzgerald tivenuo, to-morrow morning. At the evening service the Rev. E. D. Patchett^ will take for his subject a lrymn-sermon, "The Sailors' Great Hymn," and the choir will sing the anthem, ' 'The Day is Past and Over." ( . A meeting of shareholders of the Christchurch Starr-Bowkett Building Society wili be held in the M-anchester. Tea Rooms on Thursday, August 20tli. A tramwav talk will be given, to the W.E.A. at the Trades. Hall to-night by Mr Frank Thompson. An address on modern road construction will he given by Mr E. Parker in the Old City Council Chambers on Tuesday night. A children's plain and fancy dress carnival will be held in the Trades Hall on Monday night. A special meeting of the Canterbury Bricklayers' Union will he held in Trades Hall on Tuesday.
