♦ Carnival Jazz. The Henthcote Club Hall presented a very pretty scene on the occasion of the Bowling Club s Carnival Jazz. The docorations wero most artistic, consisting of closely hung streamers of gold and black, relieved with i* V lanterns amongst these proved very effective. Tho success of the evening was due to tiie Ladies' Committee comprising Mrs J. Round, Misses Gus and Greta Thompson, I, Round and 0. Deare. Novelty dances included an Orange dance, which was won by Miss D. Newey and Mr U. Cook, and n lucky-spot waltz, which was won by Miss O. \ eale und Mr P. Lunn. The music was supplied by Les Marston's Orchestra. Amongst those present were: —Mesdames J. A. Hound (smart black satin with georgette overdress beaded and trimmed with sequins), C. A. The Heatlicote Band of Hope met on Wednesdav evening, when, a programme of songs, recitations *nd choruses was given by the children. Miss. Ruby "Wilhams officiated at the piano, and Mr M. Nelson was in the chair. An interesting address was given by Mr W. Blazey. Guild Meeting. The Methodist Ladies' Guild met last Thursday afternoon in the schoolroom. Mrs Richards, of Avonside, addressed the members. At the close afternoon tea was served. .
