NEW BRIGHTON NOTES.
* Tides. It Trill bo high tide on the beach today at 12.7 p.m. and in the river at 1.33 p.m., and to-morrow at 12.54: p.m. and 2.21 p.m. respectively. The Churches. ' There will bo Holy Communion at both morning services at tho Beach Church, and Evensong at 7 p.m. At Evensong at the North Brighton schoolroom 'the Rev. W. F. Knowles will preach. The services at tho Methodist Church will be conductod at 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. by tho Rev. F. T. Read, and at tho South Brighton Hall, at G. 30 p.m., by Mr A. Kont. Miss McKee, secretary of P.W.M.TT. of Now Zealand, gavo an address on foreign mission work to a meeting of ladies at the local Presbyterian Church. Special reference was made to tho unique career of General Feng. Annual Meeting. The annual business meeting of 3Tr*v Brighton Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening. The Rev. J. S. Young presided over a good attendance. The balance-sheet, presented by Mr A. McKenzie, secretary, showed an increase of offerings, mainly duo to tho envelope system. During "the year tho last instalment of debt on the church has been paid off, and a debtrcduction fund to reduco the mortgage on tho manse instituted. Reports from tho session, committee of managers, Sunday Schools, Bible Classes, Bible Class Club, P.W.M.U., Busy Bees, and Ladies' Association were read and cordially received. Mr Lightbody, on behalf of tho congregation, presented Mr West with a Bible and ebony walkingstick, suitably engraved, and Mrs AVest with a silver-mounted butter-dish, and Misses Ailsa and Nancy West with silver serviette rings. Mr McPherson and tho Rev. J. S. Young expressed the high esteem in which Mr West is held, and deep appreciation of tho services rendered by him for the past eight years as session clerk, elder, superintendent of tho North Beach Sunday School, and leader of church praise. Mr West suit.ably replied. Mr McKenzie, on behalf of the committee, presented Mrs Eaglesome with a Doulton bowl, in recognition of tho invaluable services rendered by her in connexion with the Ladies' Association. Solos were contributed by Misses Eaglesome, Langley, Lightbody, and Gibb. Mr Day gavo two recitations. A bountiful supper closed a I momorablo evening.
