CANDIDATES' VIEWS. Recently, the Council of Christian Congregations decided to secure the views of tlie candidates for the City Council and the Mayoralty as to whether or not they, would support a proposal to establish a municipal picture theatre for children.

Of the candidates for the Mayoralty, Messrs J. K. Archer and J. Hamlet haye replied stating that they are in sympathy with the proposal. Messrs E. H. Andrews, A. W.! Beaven, R. A. Brooks, A. F. Carey, A. D. Ford, W. J. Green, and E. Parlane, and Mrs E. McCombs, candidates for seats on the City Council, have replied stating that they are in favour of the proposal. Messrs C. P. Agar and W. H. Winsor have stated that they will support the scheme with certain reservations. None'of the other candidates has replied to the Council's letter. ~-■
