DR. TELFORD.
RESIGNATION WITHDRAWN,
Information was received from AVcllington yesterday that Dr. T. F. Telford, District Health Officer for Canterbury and Westland, had withdrawn his resignation, which he had.handed in to the Health Department a few days ago. The Health Department has agreed to this course, and consequently Dr. Telford will remain in his present position as District Health Officer.
When asked last evening -whether or not this information was correct, Dr. Telford stated that his resignation had been withdrawn. He said, however, that he preferred not to make a statement about the matter at the present juncture. Ho left for Wellington by the ferry steamer last night. Dr. Mercer, of the Head Office of the Department of Health, arrives from Wellington this morning to take charge of the Canterbury and Weetland Health District during the temporary absence of Dr. Telford in Wellington. (SrECUL to "the pbebs.") WELLINGTON, March 27..
The Health Department states that Dr. Telford resigned his position as Medical Officer of Health for the Canterbury and Wcstland Health District, and the resignation was accepted.
After it was accepted, Dr. Telford asked to be allowed to withdraw the resignation. That was agreed to by the Department.
I understand that tho Public Service Commissioner's visit to Christchurch was not in connexion with Dr. Telford's ease, though' possibly Dr. Telford may have approached him oil the subject while he was there.
DR. TELFORD.
