ADVERTISING ON TRAM SHELTER.
to Mt rorroa Iff "the rasas." Sir,—l have been following, with interest, the discussion caused by a certain progressive advertising firm's proposal to utilise the Council Buildings in the Square, and cannot refrain from expressing my opinion of tlio matter. The country is facing a. period of most strenuous competition in all classes of trade, and it is likely to grow even fiercer. Surely the progression of the industries and trade development is a matter of most vital importance iind comes before city beautiiicntion. Yet in this cape there is no city disfigurement and still there appear to be unreasonable arguments put forward. When a firm approaches the Council with a proposition which is entirely reasonable and in the interests of the town, it should be accepted. I am entirely disinterested iu the firm in question, but it is the ethics of the qase which moves me to write in this vein.—.Yours, etc., F. W. GRB3HAM. Christchurch, March 27th.
