ANNUAL CONVENTION. (PEBSS JLBSOCIATIOH TKIjBGBAH.) DUNEDIN, March 27. The Dominion Convention of the "W.C.T.U. was resumed to-day. It was resolved to amend, the constitution in the direction of introducing a clause to provide for the property of ,1 local union, in the event of it at any time being wound up, being handed over to the New Zealand Union. The report of the work among the Maoris showed that the work Imm been successful. The report of the Education Bureau showed that interest in this department was increasing, 15 branches having been formed during the year. The report on tho Bible in schools and Sabbath observance stated that jt was a matter for regret- that the •effort to secure Bible reading in State schools during the last session of Parliament wiis defeated.
The following reports wore, also adopted:—Prison and reformatory work, scientific temperance instruction.
A motion that a petition be presented to Parliament praying for an alteration in the law in the direction of 1 making instruction in scientific temperance to school chldien compulsory, w;is lost on the voices.
It was resolved that the president (Mrs Don), Mrs Peryma.ii, and Mrs Henderson be a. deputation to wait on the Prime Minister and tho Minister of Education to urge that scientific temperance instruction be a compulsory subject in the public of •tihe Dominion and that it, be made an examination subject.
