CASUALTIES.
Mr D. Sutherland, a well-known farmer near Rangiora, met with a serious aocident yesterday -while carting oats in the field. He was walking beside his horse when the animal took fright on passing through a gate, and Mr .Sutherland was knocked down, a wheel of the .vehicle passing; over his body. He was removed to his residence and was attended by Dr. "Will. His injuries "were- considered too severe to allow him to be removed 1 to the Hospital.
(PRESS i-SSOCUTIOK TKLEGIIJIS.; GISBORXE, March 26. A. T. Rigney, an ex-hotelkeeper, who recently went farming, was found dead at Ormond this mornim; with a gun lying beside tho body. The head was partially blown off, the muzzle of the gun evidently having been placed in the mouth/ Deceased was a married man with a fnmilv.
