THE CHURCHES AND CHILDREN.
TO THX TOtTOJt OT "THE PUSS." Sir,—l , should like, through the medium of your paper, to suggest the desirability of the heads of the several religious denominations and secondary schools, making an effort to get the embargo on the attendance of children under 16 at the various church services removed. Officially, as a nation, it seems to have been decided that we should turn our backs upon religion; but the hearts of the people generally appear still to yearn after it, as was shown during, the war. The risk of attending church for children, say over 12, would surely be very small. The value of it, ethically, is admitted by many parents who themselves have drifted away from their creeds—Yours, etc., LAYMAN. March 26th.
