Correspondence classes had been instituted by the Education Board, but so far the children had not made & very good response. For the convenience of the children he asked the committee to have a letter-box placed in Colombo street, next to Mr Pratt's stationery shop, for the purpose of receiving returns. The committee approved of the scheme, and also that a notice be placed on the box .that the "School Journal" may be obtained by the parents (not children) at the. caretaker's house between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon. The committee recommended the appointment of Mr Stanley George Lamport to the position of assistant-master. Messrs McCaw and Pratt were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. Owing to the next committee meeting being on a late shopping night, it was decided to hold the meeting on the firßt Thursday of the month.
