(BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COrTRIQHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND X.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

(Received February 13th, 10.40 p.m.)

MOERAKI SAILS.

non-unionist crew

(AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION)

MELBOURNE, February 13,

"With a non-unionist crew the Moeraki sailed for New Zealand, probably Dunedin, at 11.30 last night. The newcrew was taken aboard in a ferry. Some trouble occurred when the nonunionists reached the vessel. The cooks refused to work with them, and were put ashore. The stewards, however, were satisfied to remain aboard. In accordance with the order made by the Court, the old crew assembled in the Mercantile Marine offices to be paid off, but a hitch occurred, because all hands refused to sign off unless paid until the time of their return to New Zealand, which was not agreed to.

Then it was contended that the court clerk had made an entry in the log after Wednesday's proceedings. The point was taken that this was not legal, because only ships' officers were permitted to make entries in the log. This contention also- had no effect, but before any finality was reached the marine offices closed, and payment was postponed till to-d&y..
