A double surf tragedy occurred at Tuggerah. which is about 40 miles north of Sydney, where John "William AVillii) aged 45, and Alice Doyle, aged 26, were carried out to sea by a powerful undertow. Respite determined attempts at rescue by Other surfers both were drowned. The woman's body brougnt ashore and fruitless efforts inado to restore animation. The man's body was washed up later.
