CITY REQUIREMENTS.
TENDERS AND CONTRACTS.
Details of teudeT3 received and contracts accepted for the erection of newbuildings and the supply of certain material required by City Council departments were placed before the Council at its meeting last night. The Electricity Committee reported that tenders for various equipment were received as follows: Sub-station building, Lichfield street: Head and Webb, £367: G. J. Watson. £375; X. McGillivrav, £392; A. King, £393; Cr. White, £4lO. Weatherproof aerial cable: Undge Electrical Company, £11551 ss: Lawrence and Hanson, £1591 2s 6d; National Electrical Company, £1599 7s 6d; Tollevand Son, £IG6O; Tnrnbull and .Tones, £1732; Richardson, McCabe, £I74S 10s; AX. 0. Wedderspoon, Ltd., £IBB2 10s; Kichard§on, McCabe, £IBB4 15s. Sub-station circuit breakers: National Electrical Company, £2OS l(!s; Tolley and Son, £219; Metropolitan Victors, £250; Tumbull and Jones, £5lO 12s. Tho lowest tender was in each case satisfactory. Iu the absence of a eommitteo meeting during January, and tho material being urgently required, tho lowest tender in each case was accepted. Tenders as follows wero received for a five-ton crane for the new sub-station tvorkshop: —B. Seth-Smith, £265; Andersons, Ltd., £2G7 10s; P. and D. Duncan, £412 10s 3d. Tho lowest tender offered a crane for indent, but could not comply with tho required delivery. The next lowest was for a locally-made crane, and in view of tho small difference iu price and the better delivery offcred, Messrs Andersons' tender was recommended for acceptance. For the new stables to be erected in the Moorhouso avenue yard the Worts Committoo reported that fourteen tenders wero received. The committeo recommended that the tender of D. Scott and Son at £8940 be accepted for the whole work. The following tenders were received:—D. Scott and Son £8940, U. Hinkey £9314, W. Williamson £9464, N. McGillivray £9669, C. J. Green £9766, J. and W. Jamieson £9875, Rennell Bros. £10,025, Penrose £10,089, S. L. Bull £10,650, Head and "Webb £11,195, Smith, £11,328, Watson and Home £11,495, H. Brian £12,923, George White, £13j200. The sum of £4940 Gs lid wa3 available for expenditure on the work this year, and the balance of £4OOO would have to be provided for in next year's estimates. . Tho tender recommended was accepted.
