FORGER RELEASED.

♦ INFLUENCE LIBERATES ANTISALOON WORKER. (BI CABLE —PttKaS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT) {AUSTRALIAN AND H.E. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, December 24. As a restdt erf powerful church influence, Anderson, an ex-official of the Anti-Saloon League, left prison after serving nine months of hia two year* forgery sentence. Anderson, on stepping outside th© prison gates, was rearrested on warrants charging him with larceny and extortion. On these his friends will undoubtedly furnish bail to secure his temporary liberty. Members of the Anti-Saloon. League express confidenco that tho larceny and extortion charges will bo speedily dismissed, asserting' that much evidence thereunder waa adduced during the forgery trial. Nevertheless it is scarcely expected that Anderson will ever return to anti-saloon work, sine© it is known that one of the factors influencing parole was a promise never to return to work for that organisation. Anderson further promised to cease his attacks on the Courts and prosecuting officers in connexion with his conviction. It is reported that the Auti-Saloon League has offered to reemploy Anderson, deeming his aggressive and often vitriolic methods particularly effective in securing prohibitionist ideals. Anti-saloon officials, however, decline to confirm or deny tho offer, but one official gave an inferential opinion, saying that at present the Board of the League was composed of honest men who would deal with the problem as honest man and Christians.
