Herbert Ellis, on returning to his home in Mudgeo at midday, opened the bedroom door, looking for his wife. Ho found the bodies of his two children, Enid, aged throe, and a baby of three weeks, on the bed. Their throats were terribly gashed. His wife was lying at the bottom of the bed, also with her throat'tut. She was removed to hospital, where she died. All the wounds were inflicted with a butcher's knife. Mrs Ellis had been in bad health for somo time, and was apparently demented when she committed the act.
