FIRST BY-ELECTION.
LABOUR RETAINS DUNDEE. (•t cajli—mwss associatiok—comkcot) (bxctxb's tilbgbaus.) (Received December 23rd, 8.40 p.m.) LONDON, December* 22. The first by-election, in Dundee, owing to ihe death of Mr E. D. Morel (Labour) was won by the Labour candidate with 22,973 votes. The liberal candidate pe-lled 10,234. ("Ajkhjs.") (deceived December 23rd, 8.40 p.m.) LONDON, Decemfcer 22. The Dundee by-election was notable for the small poll, 45,7120 electors not voting. The Conservative prospective candidate withdrew in order to allow the Liberal candidate a straight fight. The Labour candidate claims that the l election issue was solely Socialism versus Capitalism.
