The executive of tho United Fire Brigades of New Zealand is holding a conference at Hawcra- The important matters discussed Trere en improved and >thc means of educating the general public on the needs of fire prevention. It was finally decided that -Captain Watts, advisory superintendent of the United Fire Brigades' Association, confer with Captain Hugo, the Government Inspector of Fire Brigades, the subjects for reference to include compulsory fire drill in schools, all public institutions, and factories. The conference also stressed the urgent need for a uniform (et of fire urevention bylaws, and standardisation of all fire brigade equipment, water supplies, and reticulation.
