PROHIBITION AND HOTEL ACCOMMODATION.

TO TH3 EDITOR OF "THE TSESS." Sir, —I notice in your report of the address made by the Hon. Geo. Fowlds on the. effect of Prohibition in America, the speaker remarked that it was often paid, especially by commercial travellers, that it was difficult to get up-to-dato accommodation in a hotel without a license, but the speaker.had found that in America the position obtaining under the Prohibition regime was the very antithesis. • I would-like ,to point out that such is not the case in New Zealand. I am engaged travelling continuously from "\Yhane;arei to the Bluff, and my experience has convinced me, in addition to hundreds of commercial travellers that in the no-license districts of New Zealand the hotel accommodation is not to be compared with that in licensed areas. Many of us cannot believe that the Hon.- Geo. Fowld's is bincero over this particular subject, when we find liim as a guest at one of the leading licensed houses in this city. Can lie not. secure accommodation equally as good at a leading no-license house in this city? Your may •form their own conclusions.—Yours, etc., COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER.
