MILITARY TRAINING.
TO TBE EDITOR OF "THE FBBSS."
Sir,—'l am not concerned with the discussion that H.G. raises as to the matter of a medical fee in tho case 'of a boy claiming exemption from military service, but it is very interesting to find him asking how the Dominion forces "could be expected to stand up to- run-fire from warships and bombs from aircraft."' This is exactly the text of the article "A Plea for. National Defence," contained in your issue of September 6th. There is nothing to show that anybody took the slightest notice of that article, but here is H.G., who, from the size of his pension, appears ■to ■ have served as a. private soldier, able to see clearly that the Dominion forces as at present constituted, are useless under the conditions of modern warfare. Does not this larger question come within the comprehension of. tho military authorities. or are they whollv obsessed by the intricacies of matters concerning medical fees, rations, and' barrack blankets? It is' sad' to think that' even the clear-siorhted H.G. onlv came to light when it was a question of 10s.— Yours, etc.. YOUR. CONTRIBUTOR OF SEPT. 6th. November 2"th, 1924.
