HANDWORK EXHIBITION.
HOME ECONOMICS DISPLAY. A comprehensive exhibition of handwork was held in the Caledcnian Hall yeswrday, under the auspices of the Home Economics Association. There was a very large attendance, and the organisers of the display are to be congratulated on the success of their effort. Mrs G. Cooper was in charge of the exhibition. Amongst the stalls was an excellent display of hand-painted china in chargo cf Miss It. Don; an art stall, including a display by the students of Mrs Goldsmith, an exhibit of work by pupils of the Deaf and Dumb School in charge cf Miss M. Andrews; a display by the School of Art students (Miss Munday) and a needlework stall in charge of Miss Thompson and Mesdames JBowbyes and Carew. There was also a "Grandmothers' Stall," in charge of Misses Sidey end Mulcock; a gift stall (Mrs Muff): a disolay of fancy goods by Mrs Turner, and an inteiesting display of tusscvk work by Miss Glenville and several Ellesmere ladies. A gift stall was in charge of Mrs Wandle and a home-made cleaners' stall in charge of Mrs Reedy, while a display of soldiers' exhibits was looked after by Miss Mclnerney. A splendid exhibit of foods was also shown under the superintendence of Miss Blackmore, while Misses Shaw, Gibson and Wardle made an interesting display of cooking. There was also exhibited a number of photos, etc., of open-air schools and the Education Department's dental nurse, Miss R. Gilmour, gave a demonstration.
Quite a number cf the exhibits on the various stalls were exceedingly beautiful pieces of work, <md some very valuable displays were to be seen.
