NEW RAILWAYS.

* AUTHORISING BILL INTRODUCED. (wbcul to "thp mass.'') WELLINGTON, October 14. The Railways Authorisation Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day, provides for the authorisation of the following works:— (1) Lawrence-Roxburgh.—An extension of the authorised line from Miller's Flat to Roxburgh, length about 10 miles. (2) Rotorua-Taupo.—An extension of the authorised line from Rotoruu southward to Rcparoa, length about 28 miles. (3) Dargavillc-North Auckland Main Trunk.—A branch line from Dargavillc along the northern bank of the Wairoa river to a junction with the North Auckland Main Trunk railway near Pukehua; length about 13 miles. (4) Wellington-New Plymouth (Wcl-lington-Tawa Flat deviation). —A deviation, leaving the existing Wellington-Napier railway about 2 miles 10 chains on the railway ehainage, and running generally to the eastward of the existing Wel-lington-New Plymouth railway to a junction therewith a!)out 11 miles 45 chains 011 the ehainage of the latter railway; length about 7 miles. (o) Wellington-Napier (Rimutaka deviation).—A deviation, leaving the existing line about 23 miles 3G chains on the railway ehainage, and running generally to the southeastward of the existing line to a junction therewith about 37 miles 20 chains on the said ehainage; length about 5 miles 'lB chains. (6) Wellington-Napier (Lower Hutt Valley duplication).—A duplicate line, leaving the Main line about 7 miles 10 chains on tho railway ehainage, crossing the Hutt river, and running generally on the, eastern side of the said Main line to a junction therewith about 16 miles 20 chains on the said chainage; length a>out 9 miles 34 chains. (7) East Coast Main Trunk.—(a) A branch line from the authorised line at Kiwinui junction to Wkakatane; length about 6 miles. (b) From the end of tho authorised line at Gisbomc southwards, via Whararata, to a junction with the authorised line from Wairoa to Waikokopu; length about 39 miles. (8) Kaipara-Waikato.—(a) A deviation, leaving the authorised Hue near Morningside station, and running generally to the north-westward of the existing line to the new Auckland station yard (Auokland-Wcst-field deviation); length about. 3 miles. (b) A branch line from the authcrised line in the Auckland station yard along Quarry street in a north-westerly direction; length about half a mile.
