RACING.
COMMITTEE OF ENQUIRY. WIDE ORDER OF REFERENCE. (PBXSS ASSOCIATION TILXG»*JI.) WELLINGTON. October 14. It is announced that Cabinet has decided to set up a committee of members of Parliament to enquire during the recess into the whole question nf racing methods in the Dominion. The order of reference will be much wider than that of the committee which is at present considering the Gaming Act Amendment Bill. It is expected that the names of the members of the coinmirfen will be made known towards the end of the session. The committee will sit in Wellington, but it will not commence its enquiries until after the NewYear. During the second reading debate on the Gaming Act Amendment Bill, several memhers of the House made sweeping allegations in regard to the conduct of racing and racing methods generally, and an opportunity yrill be now afforded for these charges to be substantiated before the Recess Committee. The committee will also deal with the question as to whether bookmakers should or should not be licensed in the Dominion.
