"Roadster" invites articles and paragraphs of interest to motorists for this page. FIXTURES. September 30th—C.A.A. Annual. NOTES. The New Zealand Motor Trades Association, which has been holding its annual conference in Christchurch this week, can, as a body, give points to many other organisations on tho subject of holding conventions. The delegates wisely mix pleasure with business, and the duty of looking after the social sido of the annual gathering, which falls upon the local Association in the Centre in . which tho conference is held, is invariably carried out- with a thoroughness and cordiality which makes the annual "gathering of the clans" highly enjoyable. The Christchurch Association has proved no. exception to the rule, the delegates in attendance this week being _ regaled with dances and outings which have been highly appreciated But Avhen they meet in conference" tho delegates get'down to "brass tacks." The level of their debates is high, there being manv good, clear thinkers and fluent, speakers in tho ranks of the Iscw Zealand Association, while tho control by the chairman is invariably excellent. The Pressmen who sit through a motor traders' conference and noto tho briskness of the debate, and the grip each man has of his subject, wonder where the delegates learned their debating, for it is much above the average level attained by clubs, local bodies, and similar Perhaps the secret lies in tha fundamental fact that the delegates are business men vitally interested in their business, each with something to say which matters, and all anxious to learn from tho experience of tho other fellow.

At the last meeting of the Heathcote County Council a letter was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding tho Motor Vehicles Bill and acknowledging the Council's recommendation that licenses should not be issued to any person under tho age of 17 years. Tho letter stated that the age of 15 was fixed at the suggestion of the Motor Traders' Association, it being pointed out that a test is necessary beforo a license is granted, it was considered unnecessary to limit tho age, and that many boys of ±o are excellent drivers. Tho Minister suggested that if tlio Council desired to make further representation on the matter it should do so through _ the executive of tho Counties' Association.
