ADDINGTON BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Addington Burgesses* Association was held last evenin"-. Mr F. Mathioson presided over a good attendance. An invitation was received from the Hatewell Association to a smoko concert. Owing to the date clashing with a function ©f the Addington Association, it was decided to reply expressing regret that mcumbers could not attend. Tho chairman said that no replies had been received from tho City Council regarding watering Lincoln road, but on the day following the letter being sent to tho Town Clerk, a water-cart had appeared and tho road had been watered regularly since. iCr E. Parlano brought up tho question of an untidy Bection belonging to the Government in Park square. Despite a protest some time ago, nothing had been dome. Mr G. Tritt said that the Hon. Gw WRussell, when Minister cf Health, had stated that the section had not been purchased for a St. Helens Hospital. Mr Parlane said that the section was now tho property of tho Government. It was decided to draw the attention of tho Health Department to the matter Tho use of crockery and tables was granted to tho Library Committee. It was decided to write to the City Council that tho fences in Jerrold street had been shifted back and asking that the formation of the street be gone on with Mr Tritt said that there were four thaip corners in Church square which were very dangerous. He thought that the attention of the authorities should bo drawn to tho latter. Mr Parkflß s&id that & riko of tinicJrs had been left for several days near Selwyn street, shotting out the view of the level crossing. Ho moved that tho attention of the Railway Department .bo called to the added danger to tho crossing from this cau3a. The chairman suggested that the attention of tho Bail way Department-should be called to th© inadequate lighting at tho crossing near tho West Belt. It was decided to call the Department's attention to both matters. Tho secretary reported that the receipts for the last social amounted to £5 10s, awl the expenditure amounted to £5 3s lid, leaving a not profit of one penny. Mr Parlane said that the social was * real success, and as they did not run it for profit, he thought that they could not complain at the small profit. It was desidod to hold the Association's annual picnic on Labour Day at Coo's ford instead of tho Selwyn Huts as previously arranged. On tho motion of Mr Parlane, it was decided to charge 2s 6d a head for adults, and Is a head for children.
