AMATEUR CYCLING.
MEETING OF CLUB. The Chrietchurch Amateur Cycling Club met' last night, Mr W. G. Atack presiding over a good attendance. The matter of' securing suitable club-rooms was left in the hands of the executive. After n: discussion on , the. question of holding a road race, it was decided to refer the matter to the committee with a recommendation; that the race be held on Saturday, August'2nd.

Buchanan (representing the millers), with the express view of going into the'•'question of right of access to the railway for the West street firms. The move was instigated by the Ashburton 'Chamber of Commerce. The matter was discussed from all points of view, and in due course a report on the matters will probably be received.- Mr Grant congratulated the deputation on the formation of a Chamber in Ashburton, and expressed surprise that. the movement ha,d not been undertaken Bome time ago.
