BRIDGE OF REMEMBRANCE.
The Bridge of Remembrance Committee at a meeting yesterday, decided to plant on the western bank north of the bridge, the Gallipoli oak presented by Mr J. Deans. On the same bank south of the bridge will bo plant- t ed tree ferns and smaller ferns. On tlio eastern bank to the north a clump of yellow kowhai will be planted, anil to the south young willows will replace tho two old ones. In addition there will be rhododendrons, azaleas, and other bright flowering shrubs in suitable positions. The larger trees will be planted on August 4th, the anniversary of the declaration of war. It was also decided to make application for the removal of the slot telephone box, and telegraph and tramway poles near the bridge, in addition to interviewing owners of the corner 6ections, so that possibly the corners could be rounded off.
